Stay independent as you age
VA News – For many Veterans, growing older might affect what makes you happy, like being independent, exercising, traveling and spending time with family. This is why it is important to take advantage of VA resources so you can age in place in your home.
The VA provides a variety of resources to help senior Veterans live independently and live well. Speak with your primary care provider to find out if you are eligible for geriatric and extended care services that can help you build a routine and support system to remain independent:
- Veteran Directed Care allows you and your caregiver(s) to create an individualized plan for assistance and personal care that fits your needs and lifestyle, developing a spending and care plan to help you live independently in your own home or community.
- Veteran Decision Aid provides a checklist to help you narrow down which VA resources and what kind of personalized health care plan is best for you.
- Palliative Care focuses on keeping symptoms in check so that you can carry out day-to-day activities and improve your overall quality of life, whether that’s physical, mental or emotional well-being.
- Adult Day Health Care is a VA support program designed to help with personal care tasks while also providing opportunities for you to socialize with others and engage in your community.

Your personal information is No one Else’s business
Digital VA – In today’s interconnected world, managing your online presence is more important than ever and simple actions can make a significant difference in safeguarding your data and privacy. Whether it’s social media, gaming platforms, or the internet, bad actors want your personal information to use for their own gain.
The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) wants to remind you about the importance of protecting your personal information and data with tips from VA cybersecurity and privacy experts and the Federal Trade Commission (FTC):
- Veterans can contact their local VA Privacy Officer to file a complaint regarding an alleged privacy violation of their Veteran data or for general privacy questions or concerns.
- Veterans who suspect they have experienced fraud can find resources to file a report to the appropriate agency by visiting www.vsafe.gov or calling 833-38V-SAFE (8-7233).
- Bookmark and regularly visit the VA Cybersecurity Spot for updates on how to stay safe online.
- Veterans who suspect they have been the victim of identity theft should call VA at 1-855-578-5492.
- File a complaint(s) with the Federal Trade Commission.

Better communication. Better satisfaction.
To streamline our patient communications and lessen wait times, Mid-Cities Medical will soon be using an online chat platform to handle all kinds of patient-centered tasks through a user-centered interface – like ordering supplies, scheduling travel, checking on shipped packages, and much more.
Through this chat interface, most patient questions can be handled quickly and concurrently, and when an ask cannot be answered or needs more one-on-one attention, it is immediately escalated to one of our live agents.
At Mid-Cities Medical, every minute a patient waits is a minute they aren’t getting care, and it is our belief that this new chat platform will help patients and providers get answers, solve problems, and take actions quickly and easily.
Better communication. Better satisfaction. Better for patients. Just another way Mid-Cities Medical continues to deliver “World-Class Customer Service” and equipment to every customer every time.
